Hariam obtained a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the University of Konstanz (Germany) and a Master in Biosciences from the University of Würzburg (Germany), specializing in Molecular Neuroscience and Organoid Tissue Engineering. Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked as a Research Assistant at the DZNE in Tübingen, where he focused on modeling Parkinson’s Disease pathology and inflammation using iPSC-derived organoids. Hariam joined the lab at the Imagine Institute in Paris, where he is interested in investigating the 'body-first' hypothesis of Parkinson’s Disease progression. He is currently developing a microfluidic gut-brain axis-on-chip model to investigate the propagation of PD-linked alpha-synuclein and inflammation. His work involves integrating iPSC-derived midbrain and intestinal components with vagus-nerve-like neurons to simulate the vagal nerve route and capture cell-type-specific responses to disease propagation.
